I make screen prints, etchings and lino cuts. My prints draw on my design background, striving for simple, stylised forms. Compositions come from all manner of sources, from pebbles found on a beach, to 1970s wallpaper. You never know when something will appear and volunteer itself as an idea! Favourite artists and designers include Barbara Hepworth, Terry Frost, Orla Kiely, Terence Conran, Lucienne Day. I’m a big fan of '60s and '70s ceramics, especially those from Scandinavia. My work is intentionally domestic. It is there to complement an interior, and to work with the colours and forms which are common to modern homes. I find it inspiring to see paintings and prints as part of a room, and to see the way they can change the whole mood and character of a living space. |

| Coming up in 2010: Charity Evening 8 April 7.30-10.30pm: I'll be selling prints and other goodies at the Aprés Bar, Broadway Plaza, Five Ways in Birmingham. Tickets are £3 which will be donated to a multiple sclerosis charity. Please email me if you would like to buy a ticket. The Craft Centre & Design Gallery at the City Gallery in Leeds will be stocking some prints from February. I'm busy working on some new prints for a show at Cambridge Contemporary Art. The show runs from 6-28 March and will also include work by Jane Ormes and Jazmin Velasco. I'll be back at MidCentury Modern at Dulwich College on Sunday 21 March. |
NHS FOREST: I have designed the logo for a new initiative from the NHS. The aim is to plant one tree for every employee, amounting to 1.3 million trees within the next 5 years. This will not only help to reduce the carbon footprint of the NHS, but also encourage social activities and make NHS estates a nicer place to be. The scheme launched in Liverpool on October 6th and was coordinated by The Campaign for Greener Healthcare. www.nhsforest.org NOT ON THE HIGH STREET: I have set up shop with 'Not On The High Street', where you can now buy my greetings cards, calendars, 'zines and postcards. Click on the new Cards & Stationery link to have a browse. |
