I make screen prints, etchings and lino cuts. My prints draw on my design background, striving for simple, stylised forms. Compositions come from all manner of sources, from pebbles found on a beach, to 1970s wallpaper. You never know when something will appear and volunteer itself as an idea! Favourite artists and designers include Barbara Hepworth, Terry Frost, Orla Kiely, Terence Conran, Lucienne Day. I’m a big fan of '60s and '70s ceramics, especially those from Scandinavia. My work is intentionally domestic. It is there to complement an interior, and to work with the colours and forms which are common to modern homes. I find it inspiring to see paintings and prints as part of a room, and to see the way they can change the whole mood and character of a living space.

News - June 2010: NEW WORK ADDED!

Falmouth Show: Girls Who Draw invite you to come and visit their amazing 'Travelling Menagerie' which will be at the Here and Now Gallery in Falmouth throughout July. The exhibition will feature an exotic array of artwork from the 'Menagerie' postcard book as well as new work based on the same theme. There are 10 illustrators participating in the exhibition and they are Gemma Correll, Anke Weckmann, Mary Kilvert, Sarah Ray, Kate Hindley, Ruth Green, Currentstate, Yee Ting Kuit, Karoline Rerrie and Michelle Turton.

The image is by Anke Weckmann. Isn't it nice?
